Rendezvous

Satellites that moved up beside another and stayed within a few kilometres of it, as the open-source rendezvous project finds them every hour in Space-Track’s public element sets; this page says who moved, how close and for how long, and nothing of why.

About this data

A rendezvous is a pair of catalogued objects that the open-source rendezvous project found beside each other: the one that moved matched the other’s orbital plane and height, then came within a few kilometres of it. The project reads Space-Track’s element sets every hour: a rendezvous is raised by one set, confirmed when a later set agrees, and marked left once the one that moved opens the distance again.

Never shown: two objects from one launch or of one owner, a crewed station’s visitors, a stack still coming apart, fragments, and one object under two numbers. Owners come from GCAT, by Jonathan McDowell: in words where the project publishes the owner’s name, else by GCAT’s code, with the owner’s state.

Announced means an operator has said what the rendezvous was, and links its statement. No operator statement means the project looked and neither operator has said anything. A rendezvous with neither has not been checked yet.

Nothing here says why a rendezvous happened or what either side meant by it: only who moved, how close and for how long, and what the operators and others have said.
